Vintage Inspired

Materials

Each material, from fabric to trimmings, is chosen with care to fulfil the client’s desires. Robin enjoys selecting quality materials for each bespoke hat she creates. Panama straws, hand-woven in Ecuador, are renowned for the standard of their fine weaves.

Sinamay is available in a range of rich colours, and can be sculpted by hand. The velvet pile of fur felt has a luxurious feel. Robin often uses authentic vintage fabrics, antique brooches and hat pins to accessorise her creations.

Vintage Styles

Being trained in traditional millinery techniques, Robin uses wooden blocks to create her hats. Many of the blocks in her collection are original shapes from the 1930s and 1940s. Perchers and pillboxes became popular during this time and it’s easy to see why. They have a flattering quality that suits many women. The 1940s saw a love of adornment, featuring feathers, veils and artificial flowers - everything to make feminine and pretty hats. The wide range of creativity in these eras inspires Robin’s designs.
